The Yamal-Europe Transit Gas Pipelines System [SGT] within the territory of the Republic of Poland is a part of the gas pipeline running from the Yamal Peninsula in Russia through Belarus and Poland to Western Europe. The SGT design assumed construction of two lines of the DN1400 gas pipeline, each approximately 684.7 km long. Currently the northern line of the gas pipeline has been commissioned for operation. It includes five compressor stations, measurement stations as well as process communications systems and the SCADA system. The owner of the Polish length of SGT is the EuRoPol GAZ s.a. Transit Gas Pipeline Systems based in Warsaw while the operator functions are provided by the GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. Transit Gas Pipelines Operator.

The transit gas pipeline runs across Poland, latitudinally, in the East-West direction, from the Belarusian-Polish border crossed by it in Kondratki, to the Polish-German border crossed by it in Górzyca. The pipeline runs through the following administrative units of Poland: 5 provinces (podlaskie, mazowieckie, kujawsko-pomorskie, wielkopolskie and lubuskie), 27 districts and 69 communes.

This route has been set taking into account requirements of the pipeline reliability and assuming a minimisation of its environmental impact, both in the construction phase, and during operation.

Along its route the pipeline goes across both natural and anthropogenic terrain obstacles including: 32 railway lines, 296 roads and more than 100 water-courses. A special technical challenge was to cross six large rivers along the pipeline route: Odra, Warta and Skrwa (the crossings carried out by micro-tunnelling under the river-bed), Noteć, Vistula and twice Narew (an open ditch in the river bottom and pulling a length of the pipeline assembled on the bank (so called siphon) with a continuous concrete weight-coating that provides stability of the pipeline along the crossing). These crossings (except that across the Skrwa river) have been built with reserve lines that are elements of the planned extension of the transit pipeline.
